Pan-Orthodox
Students encounter a shared life of prayer and teaching rooted in the Orthodox Church, while families from many jurisdictions learn and worship together.
Our school
St. Kosmas Academy is a Pan-Orthodox private school serving students and families from across the Orthodox traditions—and welcoming families who support its Christian mission.
Our story
The school’s story began in May 2019, when Orthodox Christians in Washington gathered to learn what it would take to establish more Orthodox schools in the state.
That hope became St. Kosmas Academy. The Academy opened in Arlington in October 2025, completed its first year in June 2026, and now continues the work of building a stable, faithful school for generations to come.
Students encounter a shared life of prayer and teaching rooted in the Orthodox Church, while families from many jurisdictions learn and worship together.
Rich content, direct instruction, careful reasoning, eloquent expression, and the pursuit of wisdom shape the curriculum.
St. Kosmas Academy is a Washington-approved private school and a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
St. Kosmas the Aetolian
St. Kosmas traveled widely to teach the Orthodox faith and urged communities to establish schools. He understood that education can strengthen both a person and a people when it is joined to repentance, courage, and hope.
His witness gives the Academy a clear pattern: offer learning generously, speak truth faithfully, and form students for lives of wisdom and service.
The people entrusted with the school
St. Kosmas is guided by school leaders and a volunteer Board of Trustees drawn from parish, educational, professional, and family life.
